More Fallout from Episcopal Convention

The House of Bishops of Nigeria has issued a statement which says:

A cancerous lump in the body should be excised if it has defied every known cure. To attempt to condition the whole body to accommodate it will lead to the avoidable death of the patient.

The reference here is to the American Episcopal Church.

This sort of statement is the cause of my pessimism regarding the Anglican Communion having a meaningful dialogue and learning to "agree to disagree." Referring to those with whom one is in disagreement as a cancer that needs to be removed is not conducive to this dialogue.

The clouds are gathering.
